Gotta Compost!

I know there are tons of composting blogs on the net, and now there is one more to add to the list! ;) I decided today it was time to compost after opening the kitchen trash can and it being very stinky! We don't have a garbage disposal at the new house so EVERYTHING gets dumped in the trash and it makes for some real stinkiness!! So I googled composting and found a site with a list of items to compost! I think my garbage will be quite empty after starting a compost! I couldn't believe what you can compost. Why then do we have such HUGE mounds of waste all over our country? Oh Yeah its the non-decomposable junk we all use! Ok enough of my soap box. Anyway I will post more once I get a move on this. I am hoping to get the materials I need today at the hardware store and get pics up too. I will then add more details to the composting craziness! Wish me luck!

Must Reads.... Gemma Doyle Trilogy

This series by Libba Bray is amazing! I was sad to be done reading the books and couldn't wait until is was time to read everynight! So about the book...Gemma is a girl 16 years old (there abouts) in the 1800's. She is living in India and when her mother dies she goes to a girls school in London. Spence Academy. Where she learns about The Order and the Realms. These books are so good and have such great detail you just get wrapped in them. Great fantasy books with a wonderful love story as well! If you liked Twilight at all, then I sugget you read these also. These are top of my fave list!

Never in one place long... REALLY

Well, we have now been in this house a year, and yup, we are packing up as we speak. We got a letter of rent increase and just can't pay more and can't see why we would have too. We have been good tenants and never missed or had a late payment. But so be it. We were really stuck in a rutt here. We don't really like this house or the location or the school as a matter of fact. So God made our choice for us and said stop blubbering, here is your out! The landlord did not give a 30 day notice so is in breech of his contract, but I guess we will just deal with it and hopefully get a place we looked at today. It would save us about $6,000 a year. It is in a smaller town and has a bigger yard and sidewalks! We hope this works, and are saying our prayers! Heres to never being in one place long!

SUNSHINE!!

I love the sun! It is just wonderful to feel the warmth on your face and soak in the rays! I need the sun! I am one of those people that if the sun is away for along time (which it is in Western WA) I get moody! The sun is like a natural high for me! LOVE IT! I wish it was out all the time! Today was a wonderful sunny day and it made my mood wonderful! Tomorrow, I look forward too, also. Sunny and warm! YEAH!! Thank you Lord for my sunshine!

AWANA Family Fun Skate Night

This past Wednesday was the AWANA Family Fun Skate Night. It was alot of fun too! We all had a really good time. Bailey and Em tried skating and did not do to well but they tried and still had a fun night. Tim fell probably the most of us all, but got up and kept going. He was really cute! Colby was the show off one. He almost knocked me down a few times and did knock Tim down at least once. He had to show how speedy he was. :) Jesse even skated and did a race with the men. The boys raced too. I should have but didn't want to bust. All in all it was a great night!

The Year 1908

I got this in an email and had to share. It is really interesting how things have changed. Imagine.

The year is 1908. One hundred years ago. What a difference a century makes! Here are some statistics for the Year 1908
************ ********* ********* ******
The average life expectancy was 47 years

Only 14 percent of the homes had a bathtub.

Only 8 percent of the homes had a telephone.

There were only 8,000 cars and only 144 miles
Of paved roads.

The maximum speed limit in most cities was 10 mph.

The tallest structure in the world was the Eiffel Tower!

The average wage in 1908 was 22 cents per hour.

The average worker made between $200 and $400 per year.

A competent accountant could expect to earn $2000 per year
A dentist $2,500 per year
a veterinarian between $1,500 and $4,000 per year,
and a mechanical engineer about $5,000 per year.

More than 95 percent of all births took place at HOME.

Ninety percent of all doctors had NO COLLEGE EDUCATION!

Instead, they attended so-called medical schools, many of which
were condemned in the press AND the government as 'substandard.'

Sugar cost four cents a pound.

Eggs were fourteen cents a dozen.

Coffee was fifteen cents a pound.

Most women only washed their hair once a month, and used
Borax or egg yolks for shampoo.

Canada passed a law that prohibited poor people from
Entering into their country for any reason.

Five leading causes of death were:
1. Pneumonia and influenza
2. Tuberculosis
3. Diarrhea
4. Heart disease
5. Stroke

The American flag had 45 stars.

The population of Las Vegas, Nevada, was only 30!!!!

Crossword puzzles, canned beer, and ice tea
Hadn't been invented yet.

There was no Mother's Day or Father's Day.

Two out of every 10 adults couldn't read or write.

Only 6 percent of all Americans had graduated from high school.

Marijuana, heroin, and morphine were all available over the counter at the local corner drugstores.
Back then pharmacists said, 'Heroin clears the complexion, gives buoyancy to the mind, regulates the stomach
and bowels, and is, in fact, a perfect guardian of health.'
( Shocking? DUH! )

Eighteen percent of households had at least
one full-time servant or domestic help.

There were about 230 reported murders in the ENTIRE U.S.A.!

Try to imagine what it may be like in another 100 years.
IT STAGGERS THE MIND!!!!!!!!!!!

Fun Childrens Book, Jake Stays Awake by Michael Wright

This book is such a cute book to read to the kids. It is about a boy that will not go to sleep in his own bed, but has to sleep with mom and dad! It is really fun, if you have a child who is like this, even just alittle, to put their name in place of Jakes. I do that for Bailey and he just laughs and laughs! Anyway I say this is a great one for reading to the kids!
